According to a popular legend, each November 1st evil spirits invaded the cemetery to disturb the good souls resting in that recite. Such discomfort caused to the souls of the restless dead wander the streets.

The historical record indicates that as the problem persisted with each coming of the “Day of the Dead“, so the local people decided to consult with the elders. The solution recommended by the leaders of the community, was to force the withdrawal of the intruders by inducing clash of pieces of paper in the wind.

According to the elderly, the impact of wind against the paper take away the hassle. For this reason, the locals spent hours to make objects that resulted in comets or kegs, whose creation led, finally, the good spirits remain calm and stop receiving unwanted visit.

they developed a rigorous ritual: the family gets

up very early at sunrise November 1.

Scatter flowers died in the doorway their homes and hang bunches of the same flowers in window frames and any openings with the home; separately on an altar candles are lit, fresh fruits and vegetables, a glass of water and a bottle of white spirits are placed.

Another popular and traditions of the time are festivals giant kites that are made well in advance in indigenous populations and Sumpango Santiago.

The two communities are crowded with thousands of domestic and foreign tourists, who sometimes have to walk hundreds of meters to the soccer fields where exhibit and fly kites made ​​from colorful Chinese paper and bamboo sticks.
